Deputy General Manager(Plant Operations & Technique) – Yekatit Paper Converting PLC
Great Abyssinia GroupAbout This Role
This is a high-stakes executive leadership role within a major Ethiopian industrial group, specifically within its paper converting and packaging subsidiary. It goes beyond general management; the position is about ensuring the entire technical and operational backbone of the plant runs with military precision. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer or operations leader who thrives on solving complex manufacturing challenges, optimizing production lines, and driving efficiency in a capital-intensive environment. The context of Great Abyssinia Group suggests a professional who can handle the pressure of a large, established organization while pushing for modernization.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The implied profile is not just a manager, but a strategic operator who can bridge the gap between technical engineering and high-level business performance. The employer is seeking someone with deep, hands-on expertise in process optimization, maintenance strategy, and production flow within a converting or packaging factory. The unspoken need is for a leader who can diagnose bottlenecks, enforce rigorous safety and quality standards, and manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians, not just supervise them.
How to Approach This Application
Your application must demonstrate a track record of tangible operational improvements—think specific metrics like increased production output, reduced downtime, or lower manufacturing costs. Emphasize your experience with plant layout, machinery reliability, and process standardization. The employer will prioritize candidates who can show they have led modernization or expansion projects, as the role is about driving modernization. Highlight any experience with paper converting, printing, or packaging machinery, and be prepared to discuss how you have managed large capital budgets and cross-functional teams.
