About This Role

This role operates at the frontline of humanitarian delivery in a complex operational environment. As Field Security Coordinator, you will be responsible for translating high-level security strategy into actionable field protocols, directly enabling program teams to work safely in Tigray. It suits a security professional who is comfortable balancing operational support with risk mitigation, and who understands the unique pressures of working for an international NGO in a post-conflict setting. The position also carries a deputy function, stepping into the Response Security Manager’s role when needed.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The employer is looking for a practitioner who can bridge strategic planning and ground-level implementation. Rather than simply listing years of experience, the description implies a need for someone who has conducted Security Risk Assessments in volatile contexts and can institutionalize security culture across diverse teams. The ideal candidate will likely have a background in security management, law enforcement, or military service, combined with proven ability to train local staff and coordinate with external stakeholders like UN agencies or local authorities.

How to Approach This Application

Focus your application on concrete examples of risk assessment and crisis response in insecure environments. Highlight any experience you have working in Tigray or similar post-conflict zones, as contextual knowledge is highly valued. Emphasize your ability to build trust with field teams and local communities, since security is as much about relationships as protocols. Avoid generic security jargon—show how you have reduced operational risks while keeping programs running.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a mid-career security professional with at least three years of field experience in complex emergencies, ideally within an NGO context.
