Company’s and Role’s Overview
ABYS Trading PLC is one of the leading Manufacturing Companies of Ethiopia which manufactures agriculture products both for local and international markets. It has been active since 2012 and exports over 40 high quality value added agricultural products which meet world relevant standards to three main destination countries such as America, Canada and Australia and other locations. Moreover, it distributed such products to local market. Nowadays, in line with government trade, marketing and development strategies, it strives to produce world class products of having high demand across the world. This effort has allowed it to start to generate foreign currency and create job opportunity for 500 Ethiopian youths.
Now it is seeking a Finance director to ensure a standard accounting and finance practices in ABAYS Trading PLC. The Finance Director will lead the financial strategy, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing cost structures, and supporting executive decision-making to drive profitability and a sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with ABAYS Trading PLC‘s business goals
- Advise General Manager, Assistant General Manager and senior leaderships (at the factory -suluta and HQ -Addis Ababa) on financial planning and risk management both l
- Lead long-term financial forecasting and budgeting
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide actionable insights on production costs, margins, and efficiency
- Monitor KPIs specific to manufacturing (e.g., cost per unit, inventory turnover)
- Identify ABAYS Trading PLC comparative advantage through profit contributions analysis of each product and advise General Manager, Assistant General Manager and senior leaderships to minimize and/or stop products of low profit contributions
3. Cost Control & Manufacturing Finance
- Analyze and optimize cost structures (raw materials, labor, overhead)
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements
- Partner with operations to improve plant performance and profitability
4. Accounting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian financial regulations, IFRS, and tax laws (including VAT, TOT)
- In coordination with ABAYS Trading PLC‘s Internal Audit department, work on financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
- Closely follow the frequently changing Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations and ensure ABAYS Trading PLC employees are in compliance to that
5. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity
- Optimize inventory financing and credit control processes
6. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the finance team
- Establish strong financial governance and internal controls
Educational Background:
- Master’s Degree /Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance,
Experience:
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA
- 8 (for MA) and 10 (for BA) years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Strong experience in the manufacturing sector (essential)
- Deep understanding of cost accounting
