About This Role
This role places you at the operational heart of an integrated rural development initiative in a remote part of South Ethiopia. As Health Officer, you will not only lead primary health care, HIV/AIDS, and family planning activities but also coordinate with government bodies and other stakeholders to ensure these programs are sustainable and effective. It is ideal for a public health professional who thrives on fieldwork, cross-sector collaboration, and adapting strategies to real-world conditions.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The requirement for a Bachelor’s degree alongside 3–5 years of experience signals that the employer values practical, hands-on expertise over academic pedigree alone. They are looking for someone who can independently manage projects, train local teams, and navigate the complexities of working in a rural, resource-limited setting. Your ability to produce clear plans and reports will be as important as your technical knowledge, because accountability to both the foundation and local partners is central to this role.
How to Approach This Application
When applying, emphasize your experience leading community-based health programs, especially those involving HIV/AIDS and family planning in rural or low-resource contexts. Provide concrete examples of how you have collaborated with government health offices or other NGOs to align activities and avoid duplication. The employer will prioritize candidates who demonstrate strong reporting skills and a realistic understanding of sustainability—so highlight any successes in training local staff or designing interventions that continued after your direct involvement ended.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a mid-career health professional who is comfortable working in a remote area and enjoys building partnerships rather than working in isolation. It is moderately competitive, as it requires a specific blend of technical skill and field experience that narrows the applicant pool.
