About This Role
This role is a hands-on accounting position in a dynamic trading company that operates in two very different business lines—high-value, low-volume furniture imports and high-volume, low-margin coal trading. It’s ideal for a fresh graduate who wants real-world exposure to both import costing and local commodity accounting, not just data entry. You’ll report directly to the Finance Manager, meaning you’ll get close mentorship but also be expected to take ownership of day-to-day accuracy.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The listing signals that MYMR Trading is looking for a candidate who is detail-oriented and comfortable with complexity—juggling high-value shipments alongside high-volume local purchases demands a methodical mindset. Proficiency in Peachtree (or similar) is likely non-negotiable, as is a solid grasp of Ethiopian tax compliance, since the role involves reconciling imports and bulk sales to cement factories. The ideal candidate is a recent accounting or finance graduate who can learn fast and handle pressure without sacrificing accuracy.
How to Approach This Application
In your cover letter and interview, emphasize your ability to handle two distinct workflows without mixing them up—mention any coursework or internship where you managed inventory, cost tracking, or reconciliations. Show that you understand the difference between tracking landed costs for imports and managing high-volume local purchases, and be ready to discuss how you’d ensure tax compliance for both. The employer likely values reliability and a willingness to learn over years of experience, so highlight your attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best for a disciplined fresh graduate who thrives on variety and wants a strong foundation in both import and local accounting. It’s moderately competitive—an excellent opportunity for someone who can prove they’re meticulous and adaptable from day one.
