About This Role
This position sits at the intersection of brand stewardship and revenue generation for a Marriott-branded property in Addis Ababa. Unlike a typical marketing role, it operates within strict corporate brand frameworks while adapting to local market realities—a balance that defines the day-to-day. The role reports to the Sales and Marketing Manager, meaning you'll execute strategy rather than set it, which suits a marketing professional who thrives on implementation and creative execution within defined guardrails.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The profile being sought is someone who understands that hospitality marketing is guest-experience marketing—every asset, post, and campaign must translate into bookings and loyalty. The 3-5 year window suggests they want someone past the learning curve but still hands-on enough to produce content and manage digital channels personally, not just direct others. The emphasis on working with external partners signals a role that requires vendor coordination and negotiation skills as much as creative instinct. Expect them to value portfolio evidence over credentials—what you've actually produced matters more than where you studied.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with tangible outputs: campaigns you ran, content you created, metrics you moved. Marriott's brand compliance culture is real, so demonstrate that you can be creative within constraints—mention any experience working under brand guidelines or corporate standards. Since this is a support role to the Sales and Marketing Manager, show you're comfortable executing someone else's vision while bringing your own ideas to the table. Familiarity with the Addis hospitality or tourism landscape, even informally, will set you apart from generic marketing applicants.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited for a marketing professional with hospitality, travel, or consumer-facing brand experience who wants to build a track record inside a global hotel chain. Competition will be moderate to high—Marriott's name attracts many applicants, but the narrow focus on marketing-only functions (no sales targets) may filter out those expecting a broader commercial role.
