About This Role
This is a ground-floor opportunity at D1 Motors, a new electric three-wheeler assembly operation under Desire Import Export. The job puts you directly on the line building vehicles from the chassis up, which means you are not maintaining or repairing existing machines but creating new ones. It suits someone who wants to grow with an emerging EV manufacturing venture in Ethiopia rather than slot into an established automotive workshop.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The junior-level framing combined with hands-on assembly duties signals that the employer values practical mechanical competence and trainability over extensive formal credentials. They are looking for someone comfortable with tools, torque specifications, and following documented procedures precisely, since assembly errors in braking and suspension systems carry safety consequences. The mention of building the team from scratch suggests they need people who are adaptable and can handle the ambiguity of a startup production environment.
How to Approach This Application
Emphasize any hands-on experience with vehicle systems, even from vocational training or informal garage work, and be specific about which components you have actually handled. This employer is likely prioritizing reliability, attention to safety detail, and willingness to learn their assembly standards over a long CV. Mentioning familiarity with electric vehicles or three-wheelers, even theoretical, will set you apart since this is a new segment in Ethiopia.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited for a technically trained junior technician or vocational graduate eager to enter the EV manufacturing space early. Competition is likely moderate but growing, as electric mobility ventures attract increasing interest among young Ethiopian professionals.
