About This Role
This is a drawing-office role embedded in a working dairy plant, not a consulting firm. Holland Dairy is one of Ethiopia's larger dairy processors, so the designer here supports real production infrastructure — pasteurizers, CIP systems, boilers, chillers — where a wrong dimension can halt a production line. It suits someone who enjoys precise technical documentation and wants their drawings to translate directly into equipment that gets installed and operated.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The three-year minimum signals they want someone past the learning curve on industrial drafting conventions, not a junior who needs supervision on basic layouts. The specific mention of fabrication drawings — platforms, supports, brackets — suggests the plant does much of its own fabrication or works closely with local workshops, so the designer must think in terms of what can actually be built and assembled on site, not just what looks correct on screen. P&ID experience is the real filter here; it separates candidates who have worked on process systems from those who have only done general mechanical drafting.
How to Approach This Application
Your portfolio matters more than your CV for this role. Prepare a small set of sample drawings — a GA layout, a P&ID, an isometric — even if you must redraw them from memory or create practice versions, and bring them to any interview or attach them if applying digitally. Emphasize any time you coordinated with production or maintenance teams to verify a drawing against site conditions; dairy plants value designers who walk the floor rather than work purely from a desk.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to a drafting professional with food, beverage, or process-industry exposure who is comfortable working inside a plant environment rather than a design office. Competition is likely moderate — the P&ID requirement narrows the pool considerably in the Ethiopian market.
