About This Role
This is a hands-on clinical leadership position within a specialized maternal health center in Bahir Dar, where you will be the primary surgical and obstetric authority. Beyond routine deliveries and gynecological consultations, the role carries a dual mandate: delivering excellent patient outcomes while supporting the financial sustainability of the center. It suits an OB/GYN with at least 3-5 years of experience who is comfortable working within an NGO-run facility that operates with a business-like efficiency model.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The emphasis on cesarean sections, permanent family planning procedures, and comprehensive ANC/PNC coverage signals that MSIE expects you to be fully independent in surgical and emergency obstetric care, not just a consultant. The reporting line to the MCH Specialty Centre Manager suggests they value clinical excellence combined with administrative discipline—you will likely track patient volumes, complication rates, and revenue-related metrics. The reference to "professional code of conduct" implies a strict adherence to MSIE's reproductive health protocols, which may differ from public hospital norms.
How to Approach This Application
Your application should foreground your surgical case count—specifically the number of C-sections and family planning procedures you have performed independently. Given MSIE's focus on client satisfaction and financial feasibility, frame your experience in terms of patient retention and efficient theater time. Mention any familiarity with quality improvement audits or clinical documentation systems, as these will resonate with their operational priorities. If you have worked in Amhara region before, highlight that local context knowledge.
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for a clinically confident OB/GYN who thrives in a structured, outcome-driven NGO environment rather than a purely academic or public-sector setting. Competition will be moderate, with preference likely given to candidates who demonstrate both surgical volume and an understanding of cost-conscious service delivery.
