Job Summary:
Position Title: Peace Building Project Assistant

Reports to: Senior Project Officer, Gambella
Duty Station: Itang Turpham, Gambella Region
Length of Contract: up to December 2025 with a possibility of extension
based on fund availability and performance
Basic Salary:Based on NCA’s salary scale
Job Summary:
The Assistant Peacebuilding Project Officer will provide crucial support to the Peacebuilding Senior Project Officer in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of peacebuilding activities in the Gambella region. The role involves significant engagement with local communities, peace communities, religious structures, and partners, requiring strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills. The Assistant Project Officer will contribute to the effective delivery of the peacebuilding program's objectives and outcomes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Implementation Support:
Assist in the planning and organization of peacebuilding activities, including workshops, dialogues, trainings, and community mobilization events in Itang woreda and Refugee camps.
Participate in the implementation of field-level activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
Contribute to the development of activity-specific implementation plans and tools.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders in the project implementation areas.
Assist in facilitating community consultations, focus group discussions, and peace dialogues.
Support the identification of local peacebuilding needs and priorities.
Work closely with community-based peace structures, women of faiths, peace committees etc.
Assist in the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Contribute to the preparation of regular progress reports, activity reports, and other project-related documentation.
Identify and report any challenges or delays in project implementation.
Work closely with other NCA program staff and partners in the Gambella
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in peacebuilding, community development, or related fields, preferably in the Gambella region or similar contexts.
Demonstrated understanding of peacebuilding principles and approaches.
Experience in community mobilization, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English and at least one local language spoken in the Gambella region (e.g., Nuer, Anuak). Knowledge of multiple local languages is an advantage.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills and Qualities:
Experience in participatory approaches and methodologies.
Knowledge of conflict analysis and peacebuilding frameworks.
Experience in report writing and data collection.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Flexibility and adaptability.
