About This Role
This is a plant-floor leadership role at an established Ethiopian manufacturer expanding into or scaling up its plastic division. You would be the person accountable for turning raw material into finished product on time, at quality, and without safety incidents — a role that blends technical process knowledge with daily people management. Walia Steel's move into plastics suggests a company diversifying its manufacturing base, so expect to help build systems rather than inherit a fully polished operation.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The seniority band signals they want someone who has already run production lines long enough to anticipate problems before they appear on the floor — not someone learning process control on the job. The emphasis on "exceptional" and "highly motivated" hints at an environment where structure may still be forming, so the profile sought is a self-directed manager comfortable making decisions with limited hand-holding. Expect them to weigh demonstrated machine and process fluency in plastics heavily against generic manufacturing experience.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with concrete production outcomes you have owned — output gains, waste reduction, quality improvements, downtime cuts — and name the plastic processes and equipment you have managed directly. Because this is a senior hire at a company building out a division, show evidence you can set up routines, train supervisors, and enforce safety discipline, not just hit targets. If you have experience commissioning lines or scaling output, make that visible early.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to a hands-on production manager with several years specifically in plastic manufacturing who wants ownership of a full operation. Competition is likely moderate but narrow — the pool of candidates with genuine plastics process experience in Ethiopia is small, which works in a strong applicant's favor.
