About This Role
This is a strategic, high-stakes project management role within a growing Ethiopian bank, Shabelle Bank SC. You will be the bridge between the bank’s executive vision and its operational reality, orchestrating complex initiatives that likely involve digital transformation, branch expansion, or new product launches. It suits a seasoned professional who thrives on cross-functional coordination and can navigate both the technical demands of banking systems and the human dynamics of stakeholder management across multiple locations.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The posting implies a need for someone who can handle ambiguity and translate high-level business goals into concrete, trackable plans. Beyond formal PM qualifications, the bank is likely seeking a candidate with proven crisis management skills, financial acumen to understand cost-benefit analyses, and the diplomatic ability to align competing interests from compliance, IT, and business units. The "internal/external" label suggests you’ll manage both in-house teams and third-party vendors or consultants.
How to Approach This Application
Emphasize specific examples where you’ve delivered a complex project under tight deadlines or budget constraints—preferably in a regulated environment like banking or insurance. The employer will prioritize candidates who can demonstrate a clear understanding of the Somali regional context and the logistical realities of operating between Jijiga and Addis Ababa. Tailor your CV to highlight risk mitigation strategies you’ve implemented, as governance and compliance are likely top-of-mind for a bank.
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for a senior project manager with 5–8 years of experience in financial services or a similarly regulated sector who is comfortable with dual-location oversight. It is expected to be competitive, as it offers a rare blend of strategic influence and regional operational exposure.
