REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS -TRANSLATION OF ETHIOPIA’S FOOD SYSTEMS TRAINING MANUALS INTO THE AMHARIC LANGUAGE
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)About This Role
This is a consultancy-based translation assignment with a globally respected nutrition foundation, not a full-time staff role. The work involves converting technical training materials on Ethiopia’s food systems from English into Amharic, requiring both linguistic accuracy and contextual understanding of nutrition and agriculture. It suits a translator or bilingual professional with exposure to development or public health content.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The call for proposals signals a need for someone who can handle specialized terminology around food systems, not just general translation. The implied profile is a linguist or subject-matter expert who can maintain meaning and tone across languages, with attention to detail for manuals used in training settings. Experience with donor or NGO documentation is likely valued.
How to Approach This Application
Your proposal should demonstrate familiarity with food systems or nutrition vocabulary in both English and Amharic. Provide samples of previous translated materials—especially manuals, guides, or technical documents—and highlight any experience working with international organizations. Emphasize your ability to meet deadlines and handle formatting consistency, as training manuals often require structured layouts.
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for a freelance translator or recent graduate with a background in language studies and some exposure to development work. Competition will be moderate, as the niche requires both language skill and thematic knowledge.
