About This Role
This is a hands-on technical role centered on precision metal fabrication and repair within an established Ethiopian industrial operation. As a Senior Welder at Hagbes, you will be the person responsible for translating engineering drawings into physical, durable structures—moving beyond basic joining to interpreting schematics and ensuring finished products meet exact specifications. It suits an experienced tradesperson who takes pride in meticulous craftsmanship and works well within a structured engineering environment in Addis Ababa.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The expectation of 5-8 years of experience signals that Hagbes is looking for someone who has moved past routine welding tasks and can troubleshoot independently. Familiarity with blueprints and measuring instruments is not just a checkbox—it implies you will be expected to work with minimal supervision, make judgment calls on fit-up and alignment, and take ownership of quality control on every piece you complete. The mention of multiple welding processes (manual, automatic, semi-automatic) suggests the company values versatility, and you should be comfortable switching between methods depending on the job at hand.
How to Approach This Application
When applying, lead with concrete examples of projects where you've worked from detailed drawings to finished product—not just years logged. Emphasize your experience with inspection and quality assurance, since the role clearly expects you to verify your own work against specifications. Given the seniority level, demonstrate that you understand safety protocols not as rules to follow but as systems you actively uphold and can model for junior team members. If you have any certifications or formal training that complement your practical experience, place them prominently.
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for a seasoned welder who prefers technical precision over production-line speed and wants the autonomy that comes with proven expertise. Given the senior title and specific skill requirements, expect moderate competition from other experienced tradespeople in Addis Ababa—but your ability to show blueprint fluency will set you apart.
