About This Role
This is not a desk job. You will be on-site daily, managing the physical transformation of outdoor spaces into finished landscapes. The role suits an experienced civil or construction engineer who is comfortable with hands-on supervision of both labor and materials, rather than high-level design work. Since the company specializes in landscaping, expect to coordinate hardscape (stone, concrete, paving) and softscape (planting, soil, irrigation) elements simultaneously.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The call for 5-8 years of experience signals that this company needs someone who can solve problems independently on site, not someone who needs close mentoring. They are looking for an engineer who has already internalized construction sequencing, quality control, and safety protocols. The mention of managing both material and human resources implies you must be comfortable with resource allocation, scheduling, and possibly a bit of procurement oversight — not just technical execution.
How to Approach This Application
In your application, lead with specific examples of completed projects where you managed on-site teams and kept work on schedule despite resource constraints. Emphasize any experience with both structural (hardscape) and biological (softscape) elements, as this hybrid is rare in traditional civil engineering roles. The employer will prioritize candidates who can demonstrate they have handled the unpredictability of outdoor construction — weather, material delays, and labor turnover.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for an experienced site engineer who thrives in hands-on, outdoor environments and enjoys seeing tangible results from their daily supervision. It is moderately competitive, as the landscaping niche limits the candidate pool but also demands a specific skill set that not every civil engineer possesses.
