About This Role

Ruftana Trading PLC is hiring two accountants, which tells you the finance function is busy enough to need reinforcement rather than a single generalist. Trading companies typically deal with high transaction volumes — purchase orders, supplier payments, sales invoices — so expect the day-to-day to lean heavily on bookkeeping accuracy and keeping records audit-ready. This suits someone who has already handled full-cycle accounting at a trading or distribution business and wants a stable, hands-on role rather than a narrow specialization.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The three-to-five-year window signals the company wants someone past the training stage but not so senior that the salary expectation becomes a stretch for a mid-level posting. The emphasis on tax declarations and statutory compliance implies Ethiopian tax rules — VAT, withholding, payroll income tax — will be part of your routine, not an occasional task. Two openings also suggests the team may be split between functions, so flexibility across payables, receivables, and reporting matters more than deep expertise in one area.

How to Approach This Application

Lead with concrete evidence of volume — how many transactions you processed monthly, which accounting software you used, and whether you have personally filed tax returns rather than just prepared the figures for someone else to submit. Since the role mentions payroll, be ready to speak to your familiarity with Ethiopian payroll deductions and pension contributions. The Bole Dembel location means commuting proximity is worth mentioning if you live nearby, as employers in that area often weigh reliability and punctuality heavily.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited to an accountant with trading, import-export, or distribution sector experience who is comfortable being measured on accuracy and deadlines. Given two positions are open and the salary is unspecified, competition will likely be moderate — strong candidates with direct tax filing experience and software proficiency should stand out quickly.
