About This Role
This is a hands-on accounting position within a longstanding women-focused NGO, where you would manage day-to-day financial records for an organization that runs social and economic empowerment programs across Addis Ababa. The role suits someone early in their accounting career who wants to build experience in the nonprofit sector and is comfortable working with modest resources. Because the association has been operating since 1998, you would be stepping into established financial systems rather than building them from scratch.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The two-year experience threshold signals that the employer wants someone who has already handled a full accounting cycle independently — not a fresh graduate needing supervision. The emphasis on Peachtree specifically suggests the association maintains its books on that platform, so they are looking for someone who can contribute from day one without software training. The fact that computer literacy is called out separately from Peachtree hints that the role involves preparing reports, documentation, and possibly donor-facing records beyond routine bookkeeping.
How to Approach This Application
The in-person application requirement is a significant practical detail — you must physically go to their office with original documents, so plan your visit carefully and bring copies alongside originals. Given the nonprofit context and the modest salary, emphasize any experience you have with grant tracking, budget monitoring, or financial reporting to donors or boards. Highlight your Peachtree proficiency explicitly, and be prepared to discuss how you have handled financial record-keeping with limited resources or tight budgets.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited for a junior accountant who is mission-driven, comfortable with NGO pay scales, and eager to gain broad exposure to nonprofit financial management. Competition is likely moderate — the salary may deter some applicants, but the in-person application format means the pool of candidates who actually show up will be smaller than the number who see the posting.
