About This Role
This internship is a front-door entry into the operational engine of a national NGO focused on vulnerable populations. You will not merely observe; you will be expected to contribute to how the organization sustains its programs—by identifying funding opportunities, supporting partner relationships, and helping communicate impact. It suits a fresh graduate who wants to understand how development work is funded and marketed, rather than directly delivering field services.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The broad eligibility across fields like business, media, and social sciences signals that the organization values adaptability and communication skills over a narrow technical background. What is not stated but implied is a need for someone comfortable with ambiguity—able to draft a proposal one hour and a social media post the next. They are seeking a quick learner who can translate community needs into language that resonates with donors.
How to Approach This Application
Your application should demonstrate that you understand the link between storytelling and funding. Instead of listing your degree, show a sample of how you would summarize a project for a potential donor, or how you have used communication to solve a problem. Emphasize any volunteer work or academic projects that required cross-team coordination and audience awareness—this signals you can handle the hybrid nature of the role.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a proactive, organized graduate who wants a fast-paced introduction to NGO operations in Addis. Competition will be moderate, as internships with national NGOs often attract many applicants, but your edge lies in showing you see this as more than a resume line—an understanding of how business development sustains social impact.
