About This Role

This is a site-based cash handling role at a coal mining operation, which means you are the financial frontline for a remote industrial location rather than a retail counter. The position sits at the intersection of routine accounting and operational support — you keep the camp running by ensuring workers get paid, daily expenses are covered, and every birr is accounted for. It suits someone who is comfortable working in a non-office environment, away from city conveniences, and who understands that in extractive industries, cash discipline is not optional. Yo Holding operates in manufacturing and trade with a mining arm, so expect a lean finance team where the cashier is a trusted, independent set of eyes on money movement.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The employer is looking for someone they can trust with physical cash in an isolated setting — this is less about advanced accounting software and more about personal integrity, consistency, and the ability to work without constant supervision. The junior-level framing suggests they want someone with enough experience to know standard cash controls but not so senior that they will be bored by repetitive daily reconciliation. Because the role involves wage disbursement and employee advances, the ideal candidate is someone who can handle confidential payroll information discreetly and deal fairly with laborers who may be depending on timely payments. The security element — vault access, key control — signals they need a person who takes physical security seriously and will not cut corners when no one is watching.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should lead with trustworthiness and hands-on cash experience, not academic credentials — this employer cares more about whether you have handled real money under real pressure than about your GPA. If you have worked in any remote or field-based role before, even outside finance, mention it, because adapting to a mine site is a significant part of this job. Be specific about the volume and types of transactions you have managed: daily sales reconciliation, petty cash, staff payments. In your cover letter or interview, demonstrate that you understand why segregation of duties and daily logging matter in a cash-heavy environment — that awareness is what separates a reliable cashier from a liability.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role best suits a detail-oriented junior finance professional who is willing to live and work at a remote site, values job stability over prestige, and has a track record of handling cash without discrepancies. It will likely attract candidates from the surrounding region who are familiar with the area, so competition may be moderate but localized — the main filter is whether you can demonstrate reliability and comfort with an isolated work environment.

The Cashier is responsible for managing all day-to-day cash transactions, disbursements, petty cash funds, and revenue collections at the coal mine site. this role ensures strict adherence to internal financial controls, manages employee wage disbursements/advances, reconciled daily sales, and maintains accurate daily transaction logs for site operations.
