About This Role
This is a senior-level role overseeing how a large, multi-sector Ethiopian conglomerate engages with the communities surrounding its industrial parks. Rather than a standard CSR officer position, this is a strategic leadership role that balances corporate interests with local development needs. The role suits an experienced professional who can navigate government relations, manage expectations across diverse stakeholder groups, and design initiatives that build trust for a company with significant industrial footprint.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The required eight years of experience signals this is not an entry point into CSR — the employer expects someone who has already managed complex community dynamics. The preference for a Master’s degree in public administration or development studies suggests the company values formal training in governance and project management over purely business-focused backgrounds. The mention of "stakeholder" experience implies the ideal candidate has handled conflict resolution, negotiated with local leaders, and understands regulatory frameworks in Ethiopia’s industrial zones.
How to Approach This Application
Your application should demonstrate concrete examples of managing tension between corporate operations and community expectations, ideally within Ethiopia’s manufacturing or industrial sectors. Emphasize any experience with government relations at woreda or zonal level, as this role likely requires bridging company activities with local administration. Prepare to discuss how you would measure the social impact of CSR programs — not just list activities, but show you understand return on investment in community trust.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a seasoned professional with at least a decade in community engagement or development work, ideally within a large Ethiopian corporation or NGO. Competition will be significant given the seniority level and the company’s prominence, so only apply if you have direct, verifiable experience managing multi-stakeholder relationships in industrial settings.
