About This Role

This position sits at the intersection of humanitarian response and community-level psychosocial support, a space World Vision Ethiopia has occupied for decades in conflict-affected regions. The officer effectively becomes the field-level bridge between program design and community trust — translating conflict sensitivity frameworks into everyday practice with local leaders and youth. It suits someone early in their career who is comfortable operating in fragile, post-conflict settings and motivated by protection and healing work rather than conventional social service delivery.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The profile being sought is less about technical credentials and more about demonstrated ability to work through others — mobilizing volunteers, coordinating with religious and community gatekeepers, and maintaining neutrality in politically sensitive environments. The junior seniority signals that World Vision expects structured supervision to compensate for limited field experience, so they are likely screening for adaptability, cultural fluency, and emotional resilience over an extensive track record. Experience with conflict sensitivity or trauma healing is treated as a strong differentiator rather than a baseline expectation.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should foreground any direct exposure to conflict-affected communities — even volunteer or academic fieldwork counts — and show you understand why community trust is the real currency of this role. Highlight concrete instances where you facilitated training, worked with faith or youth networks, or navigated sensitive local dynamics; these will resonate more than generic statements about child protection. Given the Tigray location, demonstrating local knowledge, language ability, and willingness to relocate will likely outweigh minor gaps in formal experience.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited to emerging professionals in social work, psychology, or peace studies with grassroots community experience and readiness to live and work in Tigray. Competition is likely moderate, but candidates with genuine local ties and conflict-context exposure will stand out sharply.
