About This Role
This is a writing role inside a diversified Ethiopian conglomerate that grew out of coffee trading and now spans multiple businesses. Expect to produce copy across different brands and product lines rather than for a single consumer product, which means variety but also the need to switch tone and audience frequently. It suits a writer who can absorb a company's history and values and translate them into clear messaging for customers, partners, and internal audiences.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The mid-level experience expectation signals they want someone who has already developed a personal writing process and can work without heavy supervision, not a trainee who needs constant editing. Because the group operates in sectors as different as coffee export and manufacturing, the underlying profile is a generalist who adapts quickly rather than a specialist in one industry's jargon. The contract nature of the role hints at project-driven demand, so they likely value reliability and speed over long-term strategic ownership.
How to Approach This Application
Submit a portfolio that shows range: short-form digital copy, longer brand or corporate writing, and anything bilingual if you have it, since Ethiopian conglomerates often need both Amharic and English materials. In your cover note, connect your writing to the company's story of growth from a single idea, since that narrative clearly matters to them culturally. Emphasize your ability to write for different audiences and your track record of delivering on deadline, as contract employers screen heavily for dependability.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to a versatile writer with three to five years of experience who enjoys varied briefs and can work comfortably within a family-founded corporate culture. Competition is likely moderate, with the portfolio mattering more than credentials.
