About This Role
This is a reputation-ownership role at a fast-moving Ethiopian beverage manufacturer, where the person hired will shape how Komari is perceived by consumers, regulators, media, and its own workforce. It suits a communications professional who has moved beyond pure media relations and can now set strategy, manage crises, and align messaging across internal and external audiences. Beverage is a consumer-facing, highly visible sector in Ethiopia, so public perception directly affects sales — expect this position to be treated as commercially important rather than as a support function.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The 5–8 year band signals they want someone who has already run communications through at least one full cycle of campaigns, launches, or reputational challenges — not a first-time manager learning on the job. The emphasis on both reputation management and internal engagement suggests a role with two distinct constituencies, meaning the ideal candidate is comfortable switching between executive advisory work and employee-facing communication. Reading between the lines, Komari likely needs someone who can build structure and process, not just execute tasks, which points to a profile with prior experience standing up or professionalizing a communications function.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with concrete outcomes — a campaign you shaped, a crisis you handled, a measurable shift in brand perception or employee engagement — rather than descriptions of duties. Given Komari's consumer-facing positioning, show that you understand how communications connects to commercial results in an FMCG or beverage context, even if your background is in another sector. If you have worked in a company where communications had to earn its seat at the leadership table, say so explicitly; that is likely the gap they are trying to close.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to a mid-to-senior communications professional with FMCG, consumer, or agency experience who wants ownership of a full function rather than a narrow media-relations brief. Competition will be moderate but real — the pool of candidates in Addis with both strategic communications depth and consumer-sector exposure is limited, so strong FMCG-adjacent experience will stand out.
