About This Role
This is a field-based safety leadership position inside one of the world's largest telecom equipment vendors, where EHS is treated as a core operational discipline rather than a compliance checkbox. The job centres on protecting workers who install and maintain network infrastructure — tower climbs, live electrical work, and confined-space entries are routine in this sector, so the stakes are genuinely high. It suits a safety professional who is comfortable on active construction and installation sites and who can influence behaviour across contractor teams, not just write policies from a desk.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The seniority band signals that Huawei is looking for someone who has already carried EHS responsibility on large delivery projects and can operate without close supervision — likely a self-starter who has built or run a safety management system before. The emphasis on risk assessment for high-risk activities points to hands-on technical safety competence rather than generalist HR-style HSE work. The mention of knowledge transfer and local talent development suggests the company wants a capability-builder, not just an auditor — someone who leaves local staff more competent than they found them.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with concrete evidence of EHS ownership on telecom, power, or construction projects — specific hazards managed, incident rates improved, audit outcomes achieved. Because customer communication is part of the remit, show that you can represent safety positions credibly to clients and contractors, not only to internal teams. Huawei is known for demanding documentation and process discipline, so mention familiarity with formal EHS management systems and reporting structures.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to an experienced safety engineer with site-heavy telecom or infrastructure exposure who is ready to take ownership of a project's entire EHS posture. Competition is likely moderate but selective — genuine high-risk site experience and prior contractor-facing work will separate shortlisted candidates from the rest.
Job Responsibilities
- Take charge of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) management for delivery projects, including formulating EHS plans, implementing safety regulations, and ensuring all site operations comply with local laws and company EHS requirements.
- Conduct EHS risk identification, assessment, and control for site operations (such as high-altitude work, electrical work, and confined space work), and organize EHS training, inspections, and audits.
- Investigate and report EHS incidents and near-misses, formulate corrective and preventive measures, and follow up on their implementation to ensure continuous improvement.
- Take part in customer communication, skill transfer to internal employees, and knowledge accumulation (including local employee cultivation and personnel echelon building) in the project team or team.
- Fully communicate with the customer and authorities during project delivery and be responsible for EHS compliance and customer satisfaction.
Service skill requirements:
- Have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate EHS requirements with customers, subcontractors, and project teams, and drive EHS compliance.
- Have strong understanding and analytical capabilities, be able to identify and assess EHS risks and develop practical control measures.
- Be able to identify EHS risks (such as electrical, high-altitude, and traffic safety risks) and take effective measures to prevent incidents.
- Identify and manage EHS issues, develop corrective and preventive plans, and complete EHS reports and audits.
- 1-2 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in the telecom or construction industry.
- Obey the global project allocation;
Requirements for professional knowledge:
- Familiar with EHS laws, regulations, and standards (such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001) and telecom/construction site safety requirements.
- Familiar with electrical safety, high-altitude work safety, LOTO, and emergency response management.
- Familiar with EHS management systems, tools, and audit methods, with relevant certification (such as NEBOSH or registered safety engineer) being preferred.
- Ability to independently conduct EHS training, inspection, and incident investigation.
