About This Role
This is a senior-level legal advisory role within a technology company, requiring the lawyer to act as a strategic business partner rather than just a compliance watchdog. The role suits an experienced legal professional who can navigate the intersection of Ethiopian commercial law and the fast-paced, contract-heavy operations of a tech firm. Edge Communication is likely looking for someone who can anticipate legal risks in procurement, client deals, and partnerships before they become disputes.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The emphasis on 5-8 years of experience signals a need for a lawyer who has already handled complex, multi-party contracts independently, not someone still learning drafting basics. The scope covering employment, corporate, and commercial law means the ideal candidate is a generalist with deep Ethiopian regulatory knowledge, particularly in areas like telecom or IT sector compliance. The listing implies the company values practical legal judgment over academic pedigree alone.
How to Approach This Application
Tailor your CV to highlight specific contracts you have drafted or negotiated, especially those involving technology, service agreements, or government procurement. Prepare to discuss a real example where you balanced legal risk with business objectives, as the employer likely prioritizes commercial awareness over rigid legalism. Emphasize familiarity with Ethiopian labour law and any experience advising on employment disputes or terminations.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a mid-career lawyer who enjoys a mix of strategic advisory and hands-on document work, and who thrives in a dynamic corporate environment. Competition is expected to be moderate, as the niche combination of tech sector experience and Ethiopian legal expertise narrows the candidate pool.
