About This Role
This is a field-support driving role with a humanitarian organization, meaning the job goes well beyond simply getting people from point A to point B. You would be moving staff, visitors, and supplies across project sites in and around Assosa, often on roads that demand real caution and local knowledge. AAHI is an NGO operating in a developing-region context, so the pace, conditions, and purpose of the work differ markedly from corporate or commercial driving. It suits someone who is dependable, calm under pressure, and comfortable with the unpredictability of humanitarian field operations.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The junior-level framing with a small experience window tells you the employer wants someone with enough road time to be safe and self-reliant, but who is still trainable in organizational protocols. Because the role reports to a fleet coordinator and involves security and safety compliance, the profile being sought is a driver who follows procedure without needing constant supervision. The emphasis on remote-area travel signals they value mechanical awareness and the judgment to handle minor problems far from immediate support. Fifteen positions being filled at once also suggests they need people who can slot into a structured system quickly.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with your clean driving record, valid license class, and any experience driving in Benishangul Gumuz or similar regions — local road familiarity is a genuine advantage here. Mention any exposure to NGO, government, or project-based driving, since humanitarian employers tend to prefer candidates who already understand field discipline and reporting expectations. Keep your application tidy and complete; organizations hiring at this volume screen quickly, and missing documents or a vague CV will cost you the chance. If you have basic English or report-writing ability, make it visible, as drivers in these roles often log trips and incidents.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to experienced-but-early-career drivers based in or willing to relocate to Assosa who want a stable one-year contract with a respected international NGO. With fifteen slots open, the odds are more favorable than a typical single-post vacancy, but competition will still be steady from local drivers.
