About This Role
This is a field-heavy transmission delivery role where you are Huawei's technical presence on the ground for microwave links — planning them, bringing them live, and keeping them compliant with customer SLAs. The TE/TL/TD/SA progression in the description signals an internal career ladder: you enter at one level and are expected to grow through delivery ownership toward design and solution authority. It suits engineers who want hands-on telecom infrastructure work with a vendor rather than a desk role at an operator.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The 3–5 year window and the breadth of duties imply they want someone who has already completed full delivery cycles — not just assisted on them — and can be trusted at a customer site without close supervision. The mix of link planning, antenna alignment, and commissioning points to a profile that spans both RF planning and field execution, which is narrower than a general telecom engineer. Expect the bar to be set around proven microwave vendor experience and the ability to manage technical risk independently.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with specific projects: link counts, hop lengths, frequency bands, equipment models, and your exact role in each cutover or expansion. Huawei will care most about evidence of end-to-end delivery ownership and SLA-driven customer support, so quantify outcomes — sites commissioned, upgrades completed, incidents resolved within SLA. If you have worked on Huawei RTN equipment or with Ethiopian operator networks, make that explicit early; it shortens their assessment of your ramp-up time.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to mid-career transmission engineers with genuine field delivery experience on microwave systems who are comfortable with travel and customer-facing pressure. Competition is likely moderate but selective — the pool of engineers with verifiable microwave commissioning experience in Ethiopia is small, which works in a qualified candidate's favor.
Job Responsibilities
- Travel to the frontline as a microwave transmission delivery technical engineer (TE/TL/TD/SA) to take charge of onsite or remote delivery of microwave transmission projects, including link planning, equipment installation, antenna alignment, commissioning, cutover, upgrade and expansion.
- Provide technical assurance for the onsite delivery of microwave transmission projects, identify and resolve delivery risks and issues, and undertake key project responsibilities, including technical solution development, technical issue and risk management, and technical change.
- Be responsible for customer support in SLA, including parameter configuration, frequency and capacity adjustment, patch upgrade, version iteration, service cutover, and regression verification. Strictly control change risks to ensure zero impact on services.
- Take part in customer training, skill transfer to internal employees, and knowledge accumulation (including local employee cultivation and personnel echelon building) in the project team or team.
- Fully communicate with the customer during delivery/SLA project and be responsible for successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Service skill requirements:
- Have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with customers, including technical solutions and delivery solutions. Be able to actively guide customers and obtain customer support and project team recognition.
- Have strong understanding capabilities, be able to effectively analyze and manage customer requirements, and develop feasible solutions based on customer requirements.
- Be able to identify technical risks (such as link availability, interference, and network security risks) and take effective measures to cope with and avoid the risks.
- Identify and manage technical issues, develop resolution plans and solutions, and complete design reviews. Supervise onsite construction.
- 1-2 years of experience in the telecom field (familiar with microwave and transmission networks).
- Obey the global project allocation;
Requirements for professional knowledge:
- Proficient in microwave transmission principles, including link budget calculation, frequency planning, and interference analysis.
- Familiar with Huawei microwave products (such as RTN series) and related network management systems (such as U2000/NCE).
- Familiar with SDH/Ethernet transmission technologies and IP networking for microwave backhaul networks.
- Ability to independently complete microwave link planning, equipment installation, antenna alignment, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
How To Apply
All interested and qualified candidates are invited to submit their applications through www.ethiojobs.net.
If you do not meet the required educational and professional qualifications, or if your degree is in an unrelated field, we kindly ask that you refrain from submitting an application.
