About This Role

This is a live-network operations role inside Huawei's managed services division, supporting an Ethiopian telecom operator's core charging platform — the system that calculates and deducts charges for every call, SMS, and data session in real time. The work is closer to firefighting than feature development: you keep revenue-critical billing infrastructure running, respond when it breaks, and execute changes without disrupting service. It suits engineers who are comfortable under pressure and understand that in charging systems, a minor misconfiguration can translate directly into lost revenue or customer complaints.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The profile being sought is someone who has actually operated a convergent charging or billing system in production, not just studied telecom theory. The emphasis on CDR anomalies, batch failures, and interface faults signals they want a diagnostician — someone who can read logs, trace a problem across network elements, and close it out properly rather than apply temporary fixes. The mention of change control and "zero impact" expectations suggests they value discipline and process adherence as much as technical skill, since this employer's reputation with the operator depends on service stability.

How to Approach This Application

Lead with concrete production incidents you have diagnosed and resolved — specific fault types, how you located root causes, and what you changed to prevent recurrence. If you have hands-on exposure to OCS, charging gateways, or mediation platforms from any vendor, make that explicit early, since transferable telecom billing experience is the strongest signal here. Also demonstrate familiarity with change management routines and working within strict maintenance windows, as the employer will likely probe how you handle risk during live upgrades.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited to mid-level engineers with prior telecom or billing platform operations experience who thrive in 24/7 production environments. Expect meaningful competition from candidates with direct charging system exposure, so demonstrable live-network troubleshooting stories will be the deciding factor.

Job Responsibilities
1. Be responsible for the routine O&M, inspection, monitoring and check, and log analysis of the carrier's core charging system (OCS), ensuring the stable running of charging services.
2. Be responsible for troubleshooting faults on the live network, quickly locating problems such as CDR exceptions, CDR loss and duplicate CDRs, batch task failures, charging freezing, accounting exceptions, and interface faults, and completing problem closure, review, and rectification.
3. Be responsible for the maintenance of charging system changes, including parameter configuration, tariff policy adjustment, patch upgrade, version iteration, service cutover, and regression verification. Strictly control change risks to ensure zero impact on services.
4. Be responsible for charging data audit and accounting check to ensure that the charging data on the entire network is accurate and the revenue is correct, and eliminate the risks of charging errors and fund loss.
5. Be responsible for system DR, high availability, and cluster status inspection, regularly perform DR drills, and identify single point of failure (SPOF) risks to ensure the high reliability of the charging system.
6. Cooperate with the customer to provide service support, answer questions, and ensure key service assurance at major nodes. Accumulate O&M cases and operation specifications to improve O&M stability.
Skills Required
1. Be familiar with Huawei's overall charging architecture, and master the complete service process and CDR processing link of the OCS online charging and offline charging services.
2. Be proficient in Linux system O&M, basic database operations, log check, and basic middleware principles, and be able to independently locate system, task, interface, and data faults.
3. Be familiar with the batch charging processing mechanism, tariff policies, and the ability to analyze and handle task blocking problems.
4. Master the high availability, active/standby switchover, and disaster recovery mechanisms of the charging system, be able to identify risks, and be able to avoid risks in change operations.
5. Have strong problem locating logic and problem review and summary capabilities, be able to independently handle difficult faults, and output rectification solutions and O&M reports.
6. Be familiar with carriers' O&M specifications and information security requirements, and be able to provide 24/7 emergency response and key event assurance during major holidays.

Education and Major requirements
Bachelor degree or above, majoring in software engineering or related fields.
Project Experience
Preference will be given to those who have worked on payment-related projects.
