About This Role
This is a hands-on technical leadership role within one of the world’s largest ICT providers, tasked with ensuring uptime and reliability of power systems across telecom sites. It suits an experienced power engineer who is comfortable working in the field, managing both preventive and corrective maintenance, while also engaging with customers and subcontractors. Operating in Ethiopia’s telecom sector, this position requires someone who can bridge technical execution with operational coordination.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The emphasis on 5–8 years of experience signals the need for an engineer who has moved beyond basic troubleshooting into proactive system management and root cause analysis. Huawei is looking for someone who can not only fix faults but also prevent them through disciplined planning and data-driven monitoring using tools like NetEco. The inclusion of customer meetings and subcontractor coordination suggests they value communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally in the field.
How to Approach This Application
Focus your application on specific examples where you have diagnosed and resolved complex power failures in telecom or similar infrastructure settings. Highlight any experience you have with remote monitoring systems, battery testing protocols, or preparing maintenance plans — these are not just tasks but indicators of your ability to think systematically. Since Huawei operates globally, demonstrating familiarity with their equipment or ecosystem like NetEco will give you a clear advantage.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for an engineer with a strong background in diesel generators, AC/DC power systems, and site-level field operations, ideally within telecom or energy infrastructure. Given Huawei’s reputation and the seniority level, competition will be significant among experienced local professionals, so a tailored, evidence-based application is essential.

- Communicate project updates and technical reports to Huawei Headquarters and customer representatives.
- Support subcontractor management, material planning, and equipment verification with CEG and suppliers.
- Perform in-depth power system analysis and recommend optimization solutions.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecom power systems, preferably supporting wireless network infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with Diesel Generators (DG), AC/DC power systems, batteries, rectifiers, and telecom power infrastructure.
- Experience using power monitoring and management tools such as NetEco and OWS is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of telecom power systems and passive infrastructure.
- Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) skills.
- Ability to perform power feasibility studies and technical assessments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
