About This Role
This role is a high-stakes leadership position managing a multi-country, donor-funded health initiative focused on sexual and reproductive health in fragile and underserved settings. It suits an experienced project manager who thrives in complex, partnership-heavy environments and can navigate the intersection of health service delivery, social norm change, and donor compliance. Plan International Ethiopia is a well-established INGO, and this contract signals a strategic, time-bound programme with significant visibility and accountability to the Dutch government.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The implied profile is a senior professional with deep experience in managing large, multi-stakeholder health projects—likely someone who has previously led consortiums or coordinated across government, NGOs, and community-based organisations. The emphasis on conflict-affected areas suggests the employer values adaptability, security awareness, and a track record of delivering services in unstable contexts. Expectation of 5–8 years indicates they want proven managerial maturity, not just technical expertise in SRH.
How to Approach This Application
Tailor your CV and cover letter to highlight specific examples of managing donor-funded programmes with multiple partners, especially under Dutch or similar bilateral funding. Emphasise any experience in SRH, gender, or health systems strengthening in hard-to-reach areas—and be ready to discuss how you’ve handled adaptive management in conflict zones. The employer will prioritise candidates who can demonstrate both strategic oversight (budgets, reporting, risk management) and on-the-ground sensitivity to cultural and security dynamics.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a seasoned project manager with at least five years of INGO experience in health or development, particularly in fragile or conflict-affected settings. It is likely competitive due to the prestigious donor and multi-country scope, so only apply if you have direct experience managing similar-scale partnerships.
