About This Role
This is a senior communications leadership role embedded within a government-backed service delivery institution, not a typical corporate PR desk. The Director will shape how MESOB — a platform designed to consolidate government services for citizens and businesses — is perceived by the public, media, and institutional stakeholders. It suits someone who understands that in a public-sector context, communication is as much about trust-building and transparency as it is about messaging. The role carries the weight of representing a reform-oriented government initiative where public perception directly affects adoption and credibility.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The profile being sought is someone who can operate at the intersection of government protocol and modern communications strategy — a rare combination that demands both political awareness and creative execution. Employers hiring at this level through a partner firm typically expect a candidate who can work independently, manage upward to senior officials, and build a communications function rather than inherit a fully formed one. The emphasis on "planning, directing, and managing" signals that they want a builder and strategist, not just a spokesperson. Experience in or around government, public institutions, or large-scale service programs will likely carry more weight than pure private-sector PR credentials.
How to Approach This Application
Because this hire is being managed through FC Africa on behalf of MESOB, your application will likely pass through a screening layer before reaching the actual decision-makers — so clarity and structure matter more than flourish. Emphasize any experience where you shaped public perception of an institution, managed media relations under scrutiny, or communicated complex services to diverse audiences. Given the government context, demonstrate that you understand accountability, official channels, and the sensitivity of public messaging. A concise portfolio of campaigns or communication strategies you led will speak louder than a list of duties.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a seasoned communications professional with at least a decade of experience, ideally with exposure to government, development, or public service environments. It will be competitive — executive-level public-sector roles in Addis are limited — but candidates who bring both strategic communications depth and familiarity with government operations will stand out significantly.
