About This Role
This is a hands-on senior accounting position within a trading company, where you will own the full accounting cycle rather than specialize in one area. Trading firms typically deal with high transaction volumes, inventory movement, and supplier/customer accounts, so expect the work to be operational and detail-heavy. It suits someone who is comfortable working independently and wants broad exposure rather than a narrow corporate role.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The 4–6 year experience range signals they want someone who has already moved past supervised work and can close books, reconcile accounts, and produce reports without hand-holding. The emphasis on "handling accounts independently" suggests the finance team is lean, so the person they hire will likely be the anchor of day-to-day accounting. The education requirement is standard, but the real filter is demonstrated ownership of the full reporting cycle and familiarity with Ethiopian tax compliance.
How to Approach This Application
Emphasize specific examples of accounts you have managed end-to-end — month-end close, reconciliations, tax filings — rather than listing duties. Since trading companies face audit and tax scrutiny, highlight any experience with tax authority interactions, audits, or inventory-related accounting. Quantify where possible: reporting deadlines met, volume of transactions handled, or systems you implemented.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited for a mid-career accountant seeking stability and broad responsibility in a commercial environment; competition is likely moderate, with the edge going to candidates who can show independent ownership of financial reporting and tax compliance.
