About This Role
This is a fleet leadership position embedded within a construction company's production operations, meaning you would be managing the vehicles and heavy equipment that keep concrete batching plants and active construction sites running without interruption. Unlike fleet roles in pure logistics or distribution companies, this job sits at the intersection of transport coordination and construction project execution — delays in vehicle deployment directly stall building work. It suits someone who understands that fleet management in construction is less about moving goods and more about keeping a production pipeline alive.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The five-year threshold signals they want someone who has already navigated the chaos of coordinating drivers, equipment breakdowns, and shifting project timelines — not a candidate still learning fleet fundamentals. The reporting line to both the Production Manager and GM suggests this role carries real operational weight and requires someone comfortable communicating upward to senior leadership while managing drivers and maintenance crews on the ground. Expect them to probe for evidence that you have handled concrete pumping equipment or construction-specific fleets, since general transport experience alone may not translate cleanly.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with concrete examples of how your scheduling decisions prevented or resolved operational disruptions — the employer cares about uptime, not paperwork. If you have experience with GPS tracking systems or preventive maintenance software, name the specific platforms you have used. Mention any exposure to construction or heavy equipment fleets explicitly, even if brief, because that context will set you apart from candidates with only commercial transport backgrounds. Quantify your impact where possible: fleet size managed, downtime reduced, or maintenance costs controlled.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited for a fleet professional who has worked in construction, ready-mix concrete, or heavy equipment environments and can demonstrate calm decision-making under production pressure. Given the specialized sector context and the seniority bar, the applicant pool is likely narrow — qualified candidates with directly relevant experience will stand out quickly.
