Job Purpose
The Tax, Audit & Banking Compliance Officer will support the Accounting Manager in ensuring timely and accurate tax compliance, efficient external audit coordination, and effective banking compliance. The role will be responsible for preparation, documentation, follow-up, and coordination with tax authorities, external auditors, banks, financial institutions, and other relevant parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tax computations and supporting schedules, including VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, and related requirements.
- Assist in preparing and submitting tax returns and supporting documents to tax authorities.
- Follow up on tax assessments, refund claims, official notices, letters, and compliance confirmations.
- Maintain organized records of tax correspondence and documentation.
- Coordinate external audit requests and maintain the Prepared By Client (PBC) tracker.
- Collect, organize, and submit supporting audit documentation.
- Prepare audit schedules and reconciliations covering receivables, payables, fixed assets, tax balances, accruals, provisions, and bank reconciliations.
- Track open audit issues and support timely resolution.
- Coordinate banking compliance requirements and documentation for overdrafts, loans, renewals, trade finance facilities, and bank account updates.
- Follow up on banking and financing deadlines and maintain records of banking agreements and compliance documents.
- Coordinate supporting documents including tax clearance certificates, financial statements, collateral-related documents, legal documents, and cash-flow schedules.
- Maintain tax, audit, and banking compliance calendars and monitor deadlines.
- Perform first-level reviews of documentation for completeness and consistency.
- Support the improvement of internal compliance, documentation processes, templates, and checklists
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in accounting and compliance, tax support, external audit coordination, and/or banking or loan documentation support.
- Experience dealing with Ethiopian tax authorities and/or banks is an advantage.
- Exposure to IFRS audit processes is preferred.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Good documentation and record-management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Good communication and follow-up skills.
- Practical understanding of Ethiopian banking and tax procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
