About This Role

This is a field-based role in a remote oilfield operation, combining telecommunications engineering with general IT support. It suits an engineer comfortable working in isolated environments, where self-sufficiency and hands-on problem-solving are essential. The role spans both legacy radio systems and modern IP networks, reflecting the hybrid infrastructure typical of extractive industries.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The employer is seeking more than just technical ability—they need someone who can operate independently without constant supervision. The emphasis on foundational experience with room for growth suggests they value adaptability and a willingness to learn on the job. Experience with both rugged field equipment and office IT systems indicates they want a generalist who can handle diverse technical challenges.

How to Approach This Application

Highlight any previous experience working in remote or resource-extraction settings, even if indirectly related. Emphasize hands-on familiarity with VSAT, radio systems, and network troubleshooting, as these are critical for the role’s daily demands. The employer will likely prioritize candidates who demonstrate resilience, practical problem-solving, and an understanding of safety protocols in field operations.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a mid-career engineer seeking a non-corporate, field-based technical challenge. It is moderately competitive, as the remote location may reduce applicant volume but attracts those with specific oilfield or telecom experience.
