Call for Proposal TOR: Promoting the Adoption of PURE-Based Cooling and Drying Technologies through Market-Driven Business Models and Bio-Slurry and Organic Fertilizer Commercialisation
SNVAbout This Role
This is not a conventional job — it is a call for private companies or consultancies to partner with SNV on a market-based programme in South Ethiopia. SNV is essentially looking for businesses that can turn renewable energy cooling and drying technology, plus bio-slurry fertiliser, into viable commercial operations within the horticulture sector. It suits organisations that already have a business footprint and want funding and technical backing to scale something concrete, not individuals seeking salaried employment.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The emphasis on legal registration and demonstrated commitment signals that SNV wants established operators with a track record, not early-stage ideas or individual consultants. The call is designed around commercialisation gaps, which means the evaluators will be weighing business viability and market reach as heavily as technical merit. The profile being sought is a company that can show it has already tested something in the field and now needs support to grow it, rather than one proposing a concept from scratch.
How to Approach This Application
Your proposal document matters far more than a CV here — treat it as a business case that shows how your solution reaches farmers, generates revenue, and sustains itself after the programme ends. Address both technical and financial sustainability explicitly, and make the link to horticulture value chains concrete with numbers, locations, and partner names. Because priority goes to PURE cooling, drying, and bio-slurry fertiliser work, lead with whichever of these you can evidence most credibly.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to registered Ethiopian agribusinesses, cooperatives, or technology firms with existing experience in renewable energy or organic fertiliser and a realistic plan for commercial scale-up. Competition will be moderate but selective — proposals that read as generic development concepts rather than viable business models are likely to be filtered out early.
The purpose of this Call for Proposals (CFP) is to identify and engage qualified private sector that can address key PURE commercialisation gaps by introducing, commercialising, and scaling innovative, practical, and financially sustainable solutions within the horticultural value chain. Priority will be given to interventions that advance productive use of renewable energy (PURE), particularly cooling and drying solutions, and those that strengthen the production, distribution, and use of bio-slurry based organic fertilisers.
- Be a legally registered entity in Ethiopia.
- Demonstrate commitment to scaling PURE technologies, bio-slurry based organic fertilizers, or related innovative business models and services.
- Submit a complete proposal aligned with the Call for Proposals, including the innovation, expected results, implementation approach, budget, risks, and GESI strategy.
- Operate in Ethiopia and implement activities within the project intervention areas.
- Demonstrate adequate technical, managerial, operational, and financial capacity.
- Provide co-financing contributions with evidence
- Submit an organizational profile, key policies, and qualifications of relevant personnel.
- Present a viable business case with a clear sustainability and scale-up strategy.
- Request funding within IGF limits and demonstrate sound financial and procurement management capacity.
