About This Role

This role places you on the front lines of humanitarian health delivery in a hard-to-reach, crisis-affected setting. Rather than a routine clinic position, you will be expected to function under pressure with limited resources, making rapid decisions that directly impact survival rates among displaced populations. It suits a nurse who is clinically competent, emotionally resilient, and comfortable working in remote, austere environments like the Afar region.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The job seeks a nurse who can operate independently in a low-resource emergency context, not just someone with years of hospital experience. The emphasis on triage, emergency interventions, and infection control suggests the employer values practical crisis response skills over administrative or supervisory experience. You likely need to demonstrate adaptability, cross-cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with humanitarian protocols such as Sphere standards.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should highlight concrete examples of working in emergency or outbreak settings—ideally in rural or displaced communities. Emphasize your ability to follow national and WHO treatment protocols while improvising when supplies are limited. Mentioning any previous experience with USG-funded projects, Afar context, or mobile health teams will strengthen your candidacy. Avoid generic nursing duties; focus on life-saving decisions and multi-tasking under pressure.
