About This Role

This position places you at the frontline of maternal and newborn care in one of Ethiopia's most underserved and conflict-affected regions. Medical Teams International operates with an explicit faith-driven mandate, so you would be joining an organization where humanitarian service and personal values are expected to coexist. The role suits a midwife who is comfortable working in a low-resource, high-stakes environment where clinical decisions carry immediate consequences.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The junior-level framing paired with the location signals that the employer expects someone adaptable and resilient rather than highly specialized. The emphasis on safeguarding and background checks in the description suggests the organization treats this as a trust-sensitive role, likely because midwives work with vulnerable populations in settings where oversight is limited. The profile being sought is someone who can function independently with minimal supervision while upholding strict professional and ethical standards.

How to Approach This Application

Given the location and the organization's identity, your application should demonstrate genuine willingness to work in a remote, hardship posting — not just clinical competence. Highlight any experience in rural or crisis settings, and be prepared for a thorough vetting process including references and police clearance; any inconsistency in your documentation will likely disqualify you. Framing your motivation around service to underserved communities will resonate more than career ambition alone.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited for early-career midwives who are mission-driven, physically resilient, and open to living in a hardship location. Competition may be moderate given the demanding setting, but candidates who can clearly articulate comfort with the context will stand out.
