About This Role
This is not a typical administrative support role — it is a strategic partnership position where you become the CEO's operational backbone across a diversified business group. Gift Business Group operates as a conglomerate, meaning the EA will juggle competing priorities from multiple business units, each with its own urgencies and stakeholders. The right person thrives in ambiguity, reads between the lines of executive communication, and takes genuine satisfaction in making a busy leader more effective.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The five-to-eight year threshold signals that the employer has likely been burned by candidates who look polished on paper but crumble under real executive pressure. What they are really screening for is someone who has already been tested in a high-stakes environment — someone who has learned when to push back on a CEO's request and when to simply execute. The emphasis on "counsel" and "professional mirror" in the description hints that they want an EA who can diplomatically flag blind spots, not just nod along. This is a maturity hire, not a skills hire — the technical competencies are assumed, but judgment and composure are what will differentiate finalists.
How to Approach This Application
Your CV should lead with outcomes, not duties — for example, how you reduced a principal's meeting load, restructured a chaotic calendar system, or served as the communication bridge during a critical period. Because this is a group-level role, any experience coordinating across multiple departments, subsidiaries, or external partners will stand out significantly. Expect the interview process to probe your discretion and decision-making through scenario-based questions rather than rehearsed answers, so prepare concrete stories about moments where your judgment made a measurable difference. If you can demonstrate familiarity with the industries Gift Business Group operates in, that will signal genuine interest rather than a blanket application.
Who This Role Suits
This role suits a seasoned EA who has supported C-suite or owner-level executives and is ready for a group-level scope with real influence. Competition will be stiff — these positions are rare in Addis Ababa, and the employer will likely attract candidates from banking, telecom, and international NGO backgrounds.
