About This Role

This is a field-based coordination post with Save the Children's emergency health and nutrition response in North Wollo, one of the zones hit hardest by the overlapping crises in Amhara. The coordinator sits between program management and frontline health workers, translating strategy into actual service delivery at woreda level. It suits someone who has already run health or nutrition activities in a humanitarian setting and is comfortable with the operational realities of conflict-affected areas. The fixed one-year contract signals donor-funded project work rather than a permanent establishment role.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The seniority band tells you Save the Children is not looking for someone to train up — they need a practitioner who can independently manage health and nutrition interventions, supervise staff, and represent the organization to local authorities and partners. The child safeguarding level attached to this post is a strong signal that the role involves regular, direct contact with beneficiaries and possibly oversight of vetting or safe programming protocols. The mention of fraud and compliance duties in the framing suggests this is a position where financial integrity and accountability to donors are treated as core responsibilities, not afterthoughts.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should demonstrate that you have worked in insecure or hard-to-reach locations before — North Wollo is not a posting for someone whose experience is entirely urban or office-based. Emphasize concrete results from past nutrition or health programs: coverage numbers, staff you managed, coordination structures you navigated. Because the contract is tied to a specific donor window starting in 2026, showing that you can hit the ground running without a long ramp-up period will matter to the hiring panel.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited to a mid-to-senior health or nutrition professional with prior NGO field experience in Ethiopia's conflict-affected regions, and it will likely draw a competitive pool given Save the Children's profile. Candidates without direct humanitarian emergency experience will find it difficult to stand out.
