About This Role

This is an operational leadership role within a major international NGO, focused on making sure that vehicles, materials, and supplies move seamlessly to support humanitarian and development programs. You are the behind-the-scenes engine that ensures field teams have what they need, when they need it, from fuel and spare parts to customs-cleared cargo. This role suits a logistics professional who thrives on process, compliance, and resource optimization rather than a desk-bound planner — expect hands-on coordination with warehouse staff, drivers, and external clearing agents.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The implied profile is a senior logistician who can bridge technical fleet management with strategic asset oversight, not just a transport dispatcher. The experience level suggests you have already proven you can manage complex inventory systems, negotiate with transport vendors, and enforce safety protocols under pressure. Plan International is likely looking for someone who combines donor compliance awareness (common in NGO logistics) with practical problem-solving for Ethiopian road and customs conditions — a blend of administrative rigor and field-tested grit.

How to Approach This Application

Focus your application on specific examples of managing fleet costs, reducing vehicle downtime, or improving warehouse accuracy in a multi-site operation. The employer will prioritize candidates who can demonstrate they have handled asset lifecycle tracking (tagging, disposal, audit) because this is where many NGOs face compliance gaps. Mention any experience with safeguarding or gender-inclusive logistics planning — Plan International explicitly values these, and showing awareness here signals cultural fit beyond technical skills.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a logistics coordinator or supply chain officer with at least five years of NGO or large-scale transport experience, ideally in Ethiopia. It will be moderately competitive, as Plan International is a respected employer, but candidates who clearly articulate how they’ve solved real operational bottlenecks will stand out.
