About This Role
This is a hands-on field and workshop role maintaining the heavy equipment that keeps construction projects moving—excavators, loaders, graders, and similar machinery. At Hagbes, a long-established name in Ethiopia's equipment and engineering supply sector, you would be part of the after-sales or service side of the business, meaning your work directly affects client relationships and repeat business. It suits someone who is comfortable diagnosing problems under pressure, often at client sites, rather than someone looking for a desk-based technical role.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The 3-5 year experience band signals they want someone past the apprentice stage who can be trusted to diagnose faults independently without constant supervision. The breadth of systems mentioned—hydraulics, diesel engines, transmissions, pneumatics—suggests they are not hiring a narrow specialist but a versatile technician who can handle whatever comes into the workshop. Because Hagbes deals with multiple equipment brands, the ability to read manufacturer manuals and adapt to unfamiliar machinery matters as much as raw repair skill.
How to Approach This Application
Your application should lead with concrete examples of equipment you have personally diagnosed and repaired, naming the specific machines and the faults you solved—this employer will care far more about that than about certificates alone. If you have experience working on client sites or representing a company in front of customers, make that visible, since service businesses like Hagbes value technicians who do not damage customer relationships. Mentioning familiarity with any brands Hagbes distributes or services would give you an immediate edge over generic applicants.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited to a mechanically minded technician with several years in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics who wants stability with an established company rather than a startup environment. Competition is likely moderate—the skills are specialized enough to limit the applicant pool, but the position will attract experienced mechanics from across the construction and transport sectors.
