About This Role

This is a field-based nursing post with Save the Children's emergency health and nutrition response in North Wollo, one of the areas hardest hit by the overlapping displacement and food insecurity crises in Amhara. The work is mobile by design — you will move between communities and temporary sites rather than operate from a fixed health facility, delivering nutrition screening, treatment, and basic health services to populations with limited access to static clinics. It suits a nurse who wants humanitarian experience with a major international NGO and is prepared for demanding rural conditions.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The junior-level framing with one to three years of experience signals that Save the Children is looking for someone clinically competent but still early in their career — likely a diploma or degree-level nurse who can be trained into the organization's protocols rather than someone set in a different way of working. The child safeguarding level attached to this post is a strong hint about the profile: they need someone who understands that working near children carries accountability, not just clinical duty. Because the position reports into a mobile health and nutrition officer, the employer is screening for people who take direction well and can function as part of a small, tightly coordinated team in the field.

How to Approach This Application

Your CV should lead with any hands-on experience in nutrition screening, therapeutic feeding, immunization, or outreach work — even short stints or internships in health centers, IDP settings, or NGO projects count heavily here. Mention your willingness and ability to live and work in a remote woreda; organizations filling these roles often lose candidates who accept the offer and then withdraw once they understand the location. If you have prior training in CMAM, IMNCI, or similar protocols, make that visible early, as it shortens your induction period and makes you a more attractive hire.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited to an early-career Ethiopian nurse who is genuinely comfortable with mobile outreach, basic living conditions, and working directly with displaced and food-insecure communities. Competition is likely moderate — the location deters many applicants, which works in favor of those who apply seriously and can demonstrate real field readiness.
