Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse
New Leaf Medical Complex (NLMC)About This Role
This is a clinical role for a nurse who wants to work at the sharpest edge of paediatric care — keeping the smallest and sickest patients alive and stable. New Leaf Medical Complex is a private facility in Addis Ababa, so the position likely combines protocol-driven neonatal care with the kind of family communication that private patients expect. It suits a nurse who is calm under pressure and comfortable making quick clinical judgments with newborns whose margins are thin.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The three-to-five-year seniority band signals that NLMC wants someone who has already moved past supervised practice and can hold a shift independently — a nurse who has seen enough deteriorating neonates to recognise the signs early. The emphasis on resuscitation and emergency intervention suggests the unit expects staff to act first and escalate in parallel, not wait for permission. Underneath the clinical language, the profile being sought is someone with genuine neonatal-specific experience, not a general paediatric nurse who will need to be retrained from scratch.
How to Approach This Application
Lead with concrete neonatal exposure — the number of months in a NICU or special care unit, the equipment and protocols you have worked with, and any resuscitation training or certification you hold. Because this is a private complex, show that you can also handle parent counselling and documentation to a high standard, not just clinical tasks. If your degree or licence documentation is straightforward, mention it early so the employer can see you clear regulatory requirements without follow-up.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to nurses with dedicated NICU or special care nursery experience who thrive in high-stakes, low-margin clinical environments. Expect moderate competition — neonatal specialists are a limited pool in Addis Ababa, but private facilities attract strong applicants.
