About This Role
This is a hands-on procurement role at a private trading company, meaning you will likely be managing the full procurement cycle yourself rather than overseeing a team. The mention of donor requirements suggests Shayashone may implement donor-funded projects, so expect compliance standards similar to those in the NGO sector. It suits someone who is comfortable juggling multiple purchase requests, vendor relationships, and documentation simultaneously. The trading sector context also means you will be procuring in a commercial environment where speed and cost negotiation directly affect the company's bottom line.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The 3-5 year experience range signals the company wants someone who has already made their mistakes in procurement and can now work with minimal supervision. The emphasis on donor compliance implies they need a candidate who understands audit trails and can withstand scrutiny from external reviewers, not just someone who can find the lowest price. The breadth of responsibilities listed suggests this is a lean operation where the procurement officer wears multiple hats, so adaptability matters more than deep specialization in one category. Integrity and transparency being called out explicitly hints that the company has had past challenges in this area or operates in a sector where those risks are real.
How to Approach This Application
Your CV should demonstrate specific instances where you managed tender processes end-to-end, negotiated measurable cost savings, or successfully passed a donor audit. Quantify wherever possible, such as the number of suppliers you managed, the value of contracts you handled, or the percentage of cost reductions achieved. Since this is a trading company rather than an NGO, show that you understand commercial procurement dynamics and can move quickly without sacrificing compliance. If you have experience with both donor-funded and commercial procurement, make that combination prominent because it is relatively rare and directly relevant here.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a mid-career procurement professional who has worked in NGO, development, or donor-funded environments and is now looking to apply those skills in a commercial setting. Competition is likely moderate, as the candidate pool with genuine donor compliance experience in Addis Ababa is smaller than general procurement roles.
