About This Role

This is a hospital-based diagnostic role embedded in a humanitarian health project, not a typical private or urban hospital post. The radiologist will be the primary imaging decision-maker at Assosa General Hospital, serving refugees, displaced populations, and host communities under an EU-funded partnership between Medical Teams International and the Benishangul Gumuz Health Bureau. It suits a specialist who wants clinical autonomy and meaningful public health impact, and who is prepared to work in a resource-constrained setting where their skills directly shape patient outcomes.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The mid-level framing signals that the employer wants someone past the learning curve but still early enough in their career to commit to a hardship-adjacent location for the long term. The emphasis on "modalities available at the hospital and within professional competence" hints that equipment may be limited and that versatility across X-ray, ultrasound, and CT matters more than subspecialty depth. Because the role supports a donor-funded project, there is an implicit expectation of documentation discipline and accountability to reporting standards, not just clinical output.

How to Approach This Application

Lead with your hands-on imaging experience in resource-limited or public hospital settings, since that is the closest proxy for what Assosa actually demands. If you have worked with refugee, IDP, or underserved populations before, make that explicit early in your application. The employer will likely weigh willingness to relocate and stay in Benishangul Gumuz heavily, so address your commitment to the location directly rather than leaving it to inference.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited for a radiologist who values clinical breadth, public health contribution, and a slower-paced but higher-impact practice over urban convenience. Competition is likely moderate, as the location deters many candidates, but those who apply with relevant humanitarian or public-sector experience will stand out quickly.

Under the EU-funded INTEPA project, MTI provides financial support to strengthen Assosa General Hospital's diagnostic and specialized healthcare capacity. The position aims to improve access to timely and accurate diagnostic imaging for refugees, internally displaced populations, and vulnerable host communities, supporting effective clinical decision-making and patient management.
