About This Role
This is a field-based business development role that happens to require a medical degree. New Leaf Medical Complex is essentially hiring a doctor to act as a sales representative, building referral pipelines from other clinics and healthcare facilities in Addis Ababa. It suits someone who enjoys relationship-building and measurable targets more than clinical practice, and who is comfortable spending most of the day outside the hospital walls.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The medical credential here functions as a credibility tool, not a clinical one - the employer wants someone who can speak peer-to-peer with other doctors and clinic owners, which a non-medical salesperson could not do convincingly. The emphasis on courage, persuasion, and comfort with rejection signals that door-to-door outreach is genuinely the core of the job, not an occasional duty. Expect the selection process to favour personality and resilience over academic pedigree or years of experience.
How to Approach This Application
Your CV should surface any experience with targets, negotiations, or relationship management, even if it came from internships, student associations, or volunteer work - the employer is scanning for commercial instinct, not surgical skill. If you have ever persuaded a clinic, supplier, or organisation to partner with you, describe it concretely, including the outcome. Be ready to explain in an interview how you would handle a clinic director who refuses to meet you, because that scenario is your daily reality in this role.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited to an early-career doctor who is extroverted, target-motivated, and willing to treat this two-month contract as a launchpad into healthcare business development rather than a clinical detour. Competition is likely moderate - many doctors avoid sales-oriented work, so candidates who genuinely want it stand out quickly.
