About This Role
This is not an entry-level bench role. You are stepping into a dual function—part senior technical operator, part quality gatekeeper. KADISCO General Hospital is a private facility in Addis Ababa, which means you will be expected to run tests efficiently while also ensuring that the laboratory meets the standards that paying patients and referring physicians rely on. The role suits a professional who is comfortable shifting between hands-on testing, supervising junior staff, and troubleshooting equipment under pressure.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The stated minimum of 3–5 years, combined with the "Senior" title, signals that KADISCO is looking for someone who has seen real clinical volume—not just academic training. The emphasis on a valid license and mention of additional certifications suggests they care about regulatory compliance and continuous professional development. The heavy focus on instrument operation and maintenance implies they want someone who can reduce downtime and costly repairs, not just someone who can run samples.
How to Approach This Application
Your CV should lead with measurable outcomes, not just job duties. If you have reduced turnaround times, implemented a new quality control protocol, or trained junior technologists, state that explicitly. Given that this is a private hospital, they will likely prioritize reliability and speed—so highlight any experience handling high sample loads or working in emergency/urgent care settings. A cover letter that briefly explains your familiarity with specific analyzers (even if just names of common models) will help you stand out.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a laboratory professional with 4+ years of hands-on experience who is ready to take on supervisory responsibility without abandoning the bench. Competition is moderate—private hospitals in Addis Ababa attract strong candidates, but your edge will come from demonstrating both technical depth and managerial readiness.
KADISCO General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Senior Laboratory Technologist to join our Laboratory Department.
