About This Role

This is a hands-on shift role at one of Ethiopia's established brewing companies, where you would be the person keeping the plant's utility backbone — steam, compressed air, water, refrigeration, and similar systems — running smoothly throughout your shift. Unlike a project or design engineering job, the work is operational and immediate: when something drifts or fails, production feels it within minutes. It suits an engineer who is comfortable on the plant floor, working rotating shifts, and making quick technical calls under pressure rather than waiting for direction.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The profile Habesha is looking for is someone who has already spent a few years inside a running industrial facility, not just studied engineering theory. The emphasis on supporting operators, tracking maintenance execution, and handling emergencies points to a candidate who can both supervise and get their hands dirty when needed. The mention of parameter settings and operational data suggests they value someone numerate and disciplined about records, since utility performance in a brewery is judged by consistency, not one-off fixes. Expect them to favor candidates who understand how utility interruptions cascade into production losses.

How to Approach This Application

Your CV should lead with concrete exposure to utility systems in a continuous-process environment — breweries, beverage plants, food processing, or heavy manufacturing — and quantify what you kept stable or restored. Describe specific incidents where you diagnosed a fault, what you did, and what downtime you prevented; that kind of narrative stands out far more than a list of equipment names. Since this is a shift position, make your willingness and prior experience with rotating schedules explicit, as it is often a silent screening criterion. If you have worked with preventive maintenance systems or logged operational data, mention the tools by name.

Who This Role Suits

This role best fits a mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineer with three to five years in plant operations who wants stability and depth in an FMCG environment rather than a fast-track corporate path. Competition is likely moderate — the pool of engineers with genuine utility-plant experience in Ethiopia is limited, but the brewery sector's reputation means Habesha will attract strong local candidates, so specific, verifiable plant experience is your main differentiator.
