About This Role
This position is an entry-level field logistics role within a major international humanitarian organization operating in a challenging, conflict-affected region. It requires managing procurement, warehousing, and transport in Humera, which means you will be responsible for ensuring that life-saving supplies reach their destination efficiently and transparently. The role suits a detail-oriented, disciplined professional who can work under pressure with limited supervision in a remote area.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The employer is looking for someone with 1-3 years of supply chain or logistics experience, ideally in an NGO or humanitarian setting. This implies they want a candidate who already understands basic procurement procedures, inventory control, and documentation—not someone who needs training from scratch. A degree in logistics, business, or supply chain management is likely expected, but practical field experience in a similar environment will carry more weight.
How to Approach This Application
Your cover letter should highlight your hands-on experience with procurement processes, vendor management, and warehouse operations, not just your academic background. Emphasize any previous work in remote or insecure locations, as this signals resilience and adaptability. The employer explicitly limits CVs to three pages, so be concise and prioritize relevant achievements—omit unrelated work history. Mention your familiarity with donor compliance or NGO logistics systems if you have it.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a junior logistics professional with some field experience who is comfortable working in a demanding, insecure environment. It will be competitive because DRC is a well-known NGO, but your willingness to serve in Humera—a less-convenient location—gives you an edge over candidates who only want Addis Ababa postings.
